Alumina lumps are white fused alumina with low content of silica and iron oxides. The irregular shape of lumps with difficult flow paths which increase gas distribution, trap particulates and slows down pressure drop in the bed. Alumina lumps can be used as catalyst bed supports and/or toppings in many types of synthesis gas reformers, like pre-reformers, autothermal reformers, and secondary reformers as top grading and bed support media. It can work at 1800 deg C.
